Vintage pair of 9ct gold Wedgwood classical drop earrings

A delightful pair of vintage 9ct gold earrings, that are beautiful snapshot of quintessential England. Designed as oval shape sea green jasperware panels gorgeously decorated with classical figures, rope twist frames. Suspended from ball finial posts with butterfly scroll fittings. During the late 1700s, Josiah Wedgwood started up as an independent potter at just 29 years old. His avid experiments with clay brought about his famous Jasperware range after thousands of colour related experiments. Jasperware is an unglazed vitreous fine stoneware, made in soft pastel hues with applied classical and contemporary scenes. These earrings are vintage and date to the early 1976. Please note the box shown is for demonstration purposes. Fun Fact: Charles Darwin, best known for his contributions to the science of evolution, was Josiah Wedgwood’s grandson.
